Longtime Spartan Assistant Gets Top Job 3-24-2011

Tom Izzo is looking for a new assistant coach now that associate head coach Mark Montgomery is leaving the Spartans to take over the top job at Northern Illinois.
Montgomery replaces Ricardo Patton as coach of the Huskies.
Patton was fired on March 9 after 4 seasons with the school.
Patton's overall record was 35-83, including a 19-44 record in the Mid-American Conference.
The assistant coaching job at MSU looks like a perfect fit for former Saginaw High head basketball coach Lou Dawkins.
Dawkins decided to step down as Trojan coach to pursue his dream of coaching college basketball.
