Police: Man Stole Library Computers To Email Ex 3-24-2011

A 23-year-old Harrison man claims his appearance on the "Maury Povich Show" drove him to some extreme measures.
Detectives said Dallas Manners told them he taped a show with Maury to tell his on-line lover about his real-life girlfriend.
“We don't know if it's true or not, but he explained he was flown out and put on the "Maury Povich Show" to explain to his girlfriend in another city that he had a girlfriend up here,” Clare County Sheriff John Wilson said.
Apparently his cyber connection didn’t take it well. The Clare County Sheriff’s Department said Manners stole computers in what they believe is an attempt to contact the other woman.
“He had an online girlfriend and he needed to talk to her and he didn't have any cell phone minutes,” said Wilson.
The sheriff said Manners broke in to the Harrison Library and stole two computers.
“We know him by name, we knew who he was and he was in daily using the computer,” said Library Director Sheila Bissonnette.
Manners was released from jail but officials said he stole another computer several hours later. Video surveillance showed a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt walking out with a computer.
“The same night he bonded out of jail he went back to the Harrison library and broke in again and we have him on video camera doing it,” Wilson said.
David Danberry, owner of Computer Technical Services, said Manners brought the stolen computers to his shop twice. It’s located about a block from the library.
“One hundred and fifty feet away he breaks in and then brings computers here to get worked on?” said Danberry.
After the first theft, deputies tracked the suspect down at the computer store. Then after Manners was arrested and released, deputies said he brought another computer in. Danberry contacted the library and authorities right away.
TV5’s Liz Gelardi has put multiple calls in to the "Maury Povich Show". A staff member told Gelardi she is checking with their legal team.
Manners faces six breaking and entering related charges. He is currently in jail and scheduled for a preliminary exam on March 28.
