Guilty Verdict Returned In Embezzlement Case 3-28-2011

A former Vassar deputy clerk was found guilty of embezzling $23,000 from the city coffers.
Nicole Licavoli was found guilty on all 21 counts of embezzlement. The maximum sentence allowed based on the conviction is 10 years in prison.
Tuscola County prosecutors said Licavoli skimmed more than $23,000 from the city's water and sewer department between 2008 and 2009.
Licavoli was placed on administrative leave in December 2009 after a routine audit revealed several discrepancies in the water and sewer funds starting in July 2008. She has since been fired.
According to the Tuscola Today newspaper, Licavoli's trial has been postponed four times since charges were first filed in January 2010. She will face sentencing on May 18.
