School: Black Students Targeted On Hit List 3-29-2011

Extra security is in place at a Port Huron high school after a hit list targeting African-American students was found last week in a school bathroom.
Multiple published reports out of Detroit said a list of seven to nine student names was found written on a bathroom wall at Port Huron Northern High School in Birchwood Township a week ago.
The racially charged note said something would happen Tuesday, school officials said. Parents were notified by letter Monday of the implied threat to the students.
The letter says police and school officials are going through school video footage, interviewing students and investigating writing samples. School officials said the district and police are taking the threat very seriously. The high school has 1,700 students.
Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact investigators at 810-987-6688.
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that several years ago, the Port Huron school district was sued when a number of black families claimed their children had been harassed.
