Flint City Leaders Have Pay Cut By 10 Percent 3-30-2011

Some local city leaders are now feeling the pain of tough economic times too.
A city salary commission voted Tuesday to cut the salaries of the Flint Mayor Dayne Walling and nine City Council members by 10 percent.
The cuts will save the city about $30,000 as it faces a potential $17 million budget deficit.
"It’s important that leadership comes from the top,” Walling said referring to his request to have his pay cut. “Now it’s the time to do more.”
Walling’s new salary will be just under $92,000. The council president's salary will drop from $25,000 to $22,260, the vice president's new pay will be $20,380 and the other seven council members will now make $19,907.
