Employee Charged In Mott C.C. Computer Thefts 3-31-2011

A Mott Community College employee has been charged with four felonies after being accused of stealing campus computers and selling them on eBay to friends and family and converting them to his own use.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said Terrelle R. Lee, 31, of Grand Blanc Township, was charged Wednesday with receiving and concealing stolen property over $20,000, using a computer to commit a crime, larceny over $20,000 and larceny in a building.
Lee has been employed at the college in the Facilities Department as a temporary employee since February of 2006.
In February of this year, Mott Public Safety officers were notified that five computers belonging to Mott had been reported missing from a locked closet in the Prahl Learning Center on the college campus.
"Mott College plays in important role in preparing local residents for a variety of career paths and job skills and when thefts like this happen, it is really like stealing from the entire community," Leyton said. "We will not tolerate such activity at any level."
Lee has been arraigned on the charges in 68th District Court and a pre-trial date has been set for March 29.
