'Dynamic' Spring Weather Hits Mid-Michigan 4-04-2011

The Great Lakes Bay region had a very dynamic spring weather system move through the area over the past 24 hours.
This system started with a messy mix of rain, sleet and snow. But yesterday afternoon, many places had already accumulated some very wet and slushy snow. Sunday wrapped up with some heavy rain with thunder and lightning.
Here are some of the rainfall amounts for the past 24 hours, but keep in mind, some wet snow and sleet were mixed in during Sunday afternoon:
Mount Pleasant: 2.95” Coleman: 1.95” Saginaw: 1.55” Harbor Beach: 1.51” Bad Axe: 1.45” Caseville: 1.21” Caro: 1”
We have also experienced a dramatic swing in temperatures. In fact, the region has already climbed into the 50s today for most areas. A cold front sweeping across mid-Michigan will bring those temperatures back down into the 30s and 40s this afternoon and evening.
Tonight, conditions will be dry but skies will remain cloudy. Behind this cold front, winds are also expected to pick up out of the northwest with occasional wind gusts in the mid to upper 20s. Temperatures tonight will fall just below freezing.
Tomorrow we will see dry conditions with a mix of sun and clouds. High temperatures will climb into the mid 40s. We will be talking about our next chance of rain showers Tuesday night into Wednesday.
