Teen Hit-And-Run Suspect To Be Home-Schooled 4-05-2011

A lawyer for a Mid-Michigan teen accused in a deadly hit-and-run said the 17-year-old will now be home-schooled, according to published reports.
Cody C. Kalis, who is out of jail on bond, is charged with an open count of murder in the death of 16-year-old Zachary D. Harp of Caro.
Authorities said Kalis, of Unionville, drove over Harp and dragged his body for almost one block in the early hours of March 20.
Investigators said it all began with a fight after a party at a home on Elizabeth Street in Gagetown.
A hearing on the evidence is set for May 26 at 8:30 a.m. in Tuscola County District Court.
Kalis also faces manslaughter with a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death charges.
If convicted on the open murder charge, Kalis could be sentenced to life in prison.
