School officials said a 16-year-old who was arrested and accused of taking a gun into a Bay City Public School building meant no harm to anyone at the school.
The weapon was found Tuesday afternoon in the students back pack at Wenona Alternative High School, Bay City police said.
Several bullets were also found in a separate compartment.
"The student was cooperative with both school officials and police and had made no threats toward anyone, a news release issued by police said.
Reports indicate the student transferred to Wenona from Central High School about one month ago.
School officials notified the parents or guardians of the schools students.
The student remains lodged at the Bay County Juvenile Detention Center.
