Parade, Tailgate Party Planned For Loons Opener 4-07-2011

It’s opening day for baseball in Midland, and the Great Lakes Loons have plenty of activities planned.
The Opening Day Celebration parade will take place in downtown Midland to celebrate the start of the Loons 2011 season, starting at 4:30 p.m.
The parade will include Loons players, high school marching bands, community businesses and organizations. It’s free and open to the public.

In addition to the parade, an opening day tailgate party will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the front lawn at Dow Diamond.
Officials said the tailgate will take place in a covered, heated tent and will feature live music from Jedi Mind Trip and tailgate-themed games. Beer, wine and food will be available for purchase at the tailgate event.
The first pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. versus the defending Midwest League Champion Lake County Captains.
The Loons have six players returning to the team from past seasons.
Tickets for the 2011 season home opener are available, start at just $6 and can be purchased by visiting the Loons ticket office at Dow Diamond, going to Loons.com or by calling 989-837-BALL.

Pitchers: Logan Bawcom, Robert Boothe, Pete Budkevics, Raul Burgos, Ryan Christenson, Derek Cone, Garrett Gould, Zack Lee, Bret Montgomery, Red Patterson, Timothy Sexton, Brant Stickel and Shawn Tolleson.
Catchers: Steve Cilladi (DL), Steve Domecus and Michael Pericht.
Infielders: Jesse Bosnik, Blake Dean, Casio Grider, Chris Henderson, Bryant Hernandez, Chris Jacobs (DL) and Christian Lara.
Outfielders: Nick Akins, Jon Garcia, Leon Landry and Roman Pena.
