Massive I-75 Project Begins In Genesee County 4-08-2011

The Michigan Department of Transportation began work on 16 bridges on I-75 in Genesee County on Thursday.
The $10.1 million project extends from I-69 to the Genesee/Saginaw county line and is expected to be completed by August.
Single-lane closures will be in effect on northbound and southbound I-75 at Miller Road while crews begin preliminary roadwork for an upcoming traffic shift.
Once the traffic shift is in place, two lanes will remain open in each direction during daytime hours from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. During nighttime hours, one lane will remain open in each direction from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Message boards are in place to alert motorists about the upcoming work.
Officials said a temporary concrete barrier wall will be in place to ensure safety within the construction area while work occurs on the following bridges: Flint River; Arlene Drive; Swartz Creek; Pasadena Avenue; and Miller, Beecher, Flushing (two bridges), Carpenter, Coldwater, Stanley, Mt. Morris, Dodge, Wilson, Farrand, and Lake roads.
Motorists are advised to use the following alternate routes: I-475, M-13, M-54, or M-15.
Traffic detours will be in effect as work progresses.
