Man Charged In Woman's Decade-Old Homicide 4-12-2011

Authorities said they've arrested and charged a man in connection with the death of a 20-year-old woman whose body was found in Shiawassee County more than a decade ago.
Laurencio Leopauldo Rodriguez, 33, was arraigned in Corunna on Tuesday on charges of open murder in the death of Rachel Mary Scott, of Lennon.
The Shiawassee County Sheriff's office said Rodriguez was formerly a resident of Owosso, and more recently a resident of Redding, California.
Following the arraignment, family members called Rodriguez a monster and said they are relieved their 11-year wait was finally over.
Scott's body was found July 20, 2000, in Vernon Township by family friends following a search that included extensive efforts by law enforcement.
She had been reported missing July 8, 2000, two days after leaving home to visit friends in the nearby village of Vernon, about 60 miles northwest of Detroit.
A cause of death wasn't previously disclosed, but the case was treated by investigators as a possible homicide.
Law enforcement officials told TV5 Rodriguez was always a person of interest and that they’d never been able to clear his name.
Prosecutors would not say what the big break was in the case.
