Midland Residents Could Be Paying More Taxes 4-13-2011

People in Midland could soon be paying more in taxes under a budget proposal revealed Monday night.
According to the Midland Daily News, the city's millage rate would go up point 85 mills under the proposal.
That would mean an additional 85 cents on a tax bill for every 1-thousand dollars in taxable value of a home.
Meanwhile, the proposal also calls for a reduction in staff.
City leaders are considering cutting a half-dozen employees, four full-time and two part-time positions.
The final decision on the budget isn't expected until the end of the month.
