Saginaw Family's Dog Found Shot To Death 4-13-2011

It’s a sad day for Sittina Moore and her family. They are mourning the loss of their beloved Lab, Onyx.
The family said they let the dog out late Tuesday night in their neighborhood, the Sheridan Park area in Saginaw, but when they woke up Wednesday morning, he was nowhere to be found.
“He loved to play, he loved to play with kids and he was really friendly,” said Moore.
Her cousin Allen told TV5, “He was a dream dog, real active, liked to be rubbed on, barely even barked.”
Losing their Lab is already tough enough but how the Moore family believes he died is upsetting them most.
The Moores said it wasn’t unusual for Onyx to roam the neighborhood and that most neighbors knew him by name.
Moore told TV5, “My neighbor called and said Tina I heard gunshots last night and she said I see something over in the grass, she said I think it’s Onyx.”
When Sittina’s cousin, Allen, went to check it out, he made the tragic discovery. Allen said he saw Onyx lying behind a fence, with a gunshot wound in his leg, dead.
“It kind of hurt my heart being such a beautiful dog. It really broke me down,” said Allen.
“It’s going to be a hard heal because we really care for him. I just can’t explain it,” said Sittina More.
Now the Moore family is looking for answers, hoping they can find the person responsible.
“I hope somebody stands up and comes forward and at least lets us know they did it. I don’t know if we’ll know why but it’s sad they did it,” said Allen.
The family said they filed a police report. TV5 put calls into the Saginaw Police Department to see where the investigation stands but no one returned our calls.
