Thumb Region Police Arrest 4 In Theft Of Safe 4-16-2011

Police in Michigan's Thumb region have arrested four people in the theft of a safe containing nearly $30,000 that belonged to one of the suspect's grandparents.
WLEW-AM in Bad Axe reported that two 19-year-old men from the Peck area and an 18-year-old Sandusky man will likely face charges that include home invasion, larceny and safe breaking. An 18-year-old woman also was arrested.
Police said the woman reportedly told her boyfriend that her grandparents had a money-filled safe at their Sandusky-area home. Officers said she learned after the fact that the safe had been stolen from their home while they were on vacation.
The woman told officers that about $29,000 in the safe was split equally four ways and that she and the three men spent lavishly on clothing and electronics.
