Police Thankful For Support After Trooper Death 4-18-2011

The Michigan State Police are thanking the public for expressions of support following the death of a state trooper last week.
Trooper Jeffrey Werda died in a rollover crash near Birch Run while on his way to help Saginaw County sheriff's deputies chase a motorist. He was 43.
State police director Kriste Kibbey Etue issued a statement for the department Friday, saying "it gives us great solace to know that so many people are keeping us in their thoughts and prayers as we grieve the death of our fellow trooper."

About 2,000 emergency personnel from as far as California attended Werda's funeral.
Werda was assigned to the Bridgeport post. He was responding to a call for backup April 6 when he apparently lost control and crashed.
