Woman's Body Found 12 Hours After House Fire 4-18-2011

Authorities are looking into why it took about 12 hours for a woman's body to be found following a fire at a Flint home.
Published reports said firefighters put out the blaze Sunday morning, but it wasn't until after they left that neighbors found the woman's body still inside.
Police and fire Chief Alvern Locke said it's a "terrible tragedy" and an internal investigation was under way to determine how the woman's body was missed.
Locke said department policy requires a search of every room following a fire. He said if disciplinary action is needed, it will take place.
It's not known how long the internal investigation will take.
The fire department said the kitchen fire appeared to have accidentally started.
The Flint Journal reports police identified the woman as Luverne N. Wilson.
The fire occurred at her home at 3905 Leerda Street near Sonny Avenue.
