Pavilion Arsonist Sentenced To 1 Day In Jail 4-18-2011

A man accused of vandalizing a local soccer complex has been sentenced to a day in jail and must pay $112,000 in restitution.
Police said 20-year-old Joseph B. Konsdorf caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage at the complex on McCarty road in Saginaw Township.
Konsdorf will also serve five years of probation. His Holmes Youth Training request was denied.
Konsdorf admitted to starting a fire in a trash barrel. From there the fire spread to picnic tables and to the structure.
He pleaded guilty to arson and malicious destruction of property in the Aug. 23 incident.
Meanwhile, township officials have moved to rebuild and expand the pavilion.
The new structure will be about 600 square feet larger than the original, connecting the pavilion to the concession stand.
Construction has already started and insurance will cover the $110,000 in costs.
