8 Michigan State Students Savor 'Popcorn Course' 4-18-2011

A group of eight Michigan State University students spent a semester learning tasty lessons in research and food science with what was known as the "popcorn course."
The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News reported the class officially called "Science of the Foods We Love" culminated with a visit this month to the Omaha, Neb., headquarters of ConAgra Foods Inc.
The students presented findings on how to improve Orville Redenbacher popcorn, which is one of ConAgra's brands.
The students used lab time to look at ways to improve the popcorn.
ConAgra helped fund the work, provided materials and sent two of its scientists to visit the class in East Lansing.
