Cancer-Stricken Toddler Loses Battle With JMML 4-19-2011

A Flint Township toddler has passed away from complications from a bone marrow transplant.
Madison Lasley was diagnosed with juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia, a rare form of blood cancer that accounts for 1 percent of all childhood leukemia.
JMML's only known cure is a bone marrow transplant, and last August the community came together to hold a marrow drive for her.
She died Sunday afternoon at the University of Michigan Medical Center.
Visitation for Madison is Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Swartz Funeral Home on Hill Road in Flint. Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the UM Children’s Hospital in Madison’s name at any Security Federal Credit Union.
Madison would have been 21 months old Wednesday.
