Hospital Employee Accused Of Selling Crack 4-19-2011

A 41-year-old Covenant HealthCare Hospital employee has been arrested on charges including possession with intent to deliver cocaine, the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Sheriff William Federspiel said detectives were tipped off by an outside source in February that drugs were possibly being dealt by an employee of the hospital.
During the investigation, detectives monitored Anndrea Alena Williams, of Carrollton Township, selling crack cocaine in the Covenant parking lot, Federspiel said.
According to the news release, Williams had being selling the drugs out of the hospital for more than a year and kept a supply of it near her workspace.
Police said Williams would wrap the drugs in napkins and meet buyers by the front door or at their car. Federspiel said Williams would charge $25 to $50 per rock of cocaine. Undercover police made at least four purchases.
Williams worked at the hospital for more than nine years on the fourth floor as a health unit coordinator in the OB unit.
"Covenant was very shocked and disappointed to learn of this employee's conduct as it is not at all representative of the 4,200 employees who put their heart into their work at Covenant," the hospital said in a written statement.

A later search of Williams’ residence found materials consistent with crack cocaine trafficking, Federspiel said.
She is facing four counts of delivery/manufacturing cocaine -- fewer than 50 grams.
This isn't Williams' first brush with the law.
She was arrested in 1994 on charges of possessing narcotics and cocaine. Those charges were later dropped.
Williams was again arrested in 2001 on charges of possessing narcotics, less than 25 grams of cocaine, and marijuana. She was sentenced to 18 months of probation and fined $210.
Williams was arrested four other times on non-drug related charges.
