GM's CEO Gets $2.5M Pay Package For 2010 4-21-2011

The Associated Press has found that General Motors Co. gave CEO Dan Akerson compensation of just over $2.5 million last year, mainly for his four months as the company's top executive.
Akerson took over as CEO on Sept. 1, so his compensation was smaller than other top company executives. He served on GM's board prior to becoming chief executive.
Akerson, 62, received a salary of $566,667, stock awards valued at $1.77 million and other compensation of $194,088.
Akerson took over the helm as GM wrapped up a remarkable year.
GM returned as a publicly-traded company, earned its first annual profit in years and increased U.S. sales.
The AP calculation is based on regulatory filing. It counts salary, bonuses, perks, stock and options awarded to the executive during the year.
