Helicopter Transports Massive Dow Kokam Gear 4-22-2011

A helicopter is being used to lift 18 heating ventilation air conditions units to the roof of Dow Kokam's 400,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at Midland Battery Park.
The 40,000-pound Air-Crane began moving the equipment just after noon on Friday. It will take the copter 46 lifts and several hours to place the equipment on the roof, with the largest equipment being moved first.
The new 800,000-square-foot facility will develop a new generation of high-power battery technology to supply the automotive industry.
Dow Kokam is owned by The Dow Chemical Company, TK Advanced Battery LLC and Groupe Industriel Marcel Dassault.
The hiring process for the joint venture will begin in the spring of this year, company officials said.
Last June, United States Vice President Joe Biden attended the manufacturing facility’s groundbreaking ceremony.
Officials said the targeted completion date for the facility is early 2012.
