Detroit Tigers Take Series Opener Against White Sox, 9-3. 4-22-2011

Justin Verlander notched his 1,000th career strikeout and didn't allow a baserunner until the fourth inning in a 9-3 rout of the Chicago White Sox.
Ryan Rayburn blasted his third home run of the season, going 2-5 and knocking in four runs.
Jhonny Peralta, Alex Avila and Casper Wells also collected two hits apiece.
Three solo home runs accounted for all of Chicago's scoring.
The two teams get back in action Saturday afternoon at 4:05 p.m.
Brad Penny (0-2, 8.34 ERA) will get the start for Detroit.
Former Tiger Edwin Jackson (2-1, 3.51 ERA) toes the slab for the White Sox.
