Detroit pitcher Brad Penny posted his best start ever in a Tiger uniform, throwing a one-hitter over seven innings of work, in a 9-0 Tiger victory over the Chicago White Sox.
The Tigers banged out eights runs, seven earned, on former Detroit pitcher Edwin Jackson who falls to 2-2 with the loss.
Penny picked up his first win as a Tiger and had a no-hitter going through six and a third innings but Brent Morel reached on a controversial scoring call to break up the bid.
Detroit will go for the series sweep Sunday when they send Max Scherzer (3-0, 4.30 ERA) to the hill.
The White Sox will counter with pitcher John Danks (0-2, 3.00 ERA).
Game time is 1:05 p.m.
