Visitation, Moment Of Silence For Slain Officer 4-25-2011

Visitation is continuing for a Kalamazoo police officer killed in the line of duty, and the city is observing a moment of silence in his memory to coincide with his funeral Tuesday.
Visitation for Officer Eric Zapata began Sunday and resumes Monday afternoon at Langeland Funeral Home in Kalamazoo. Scripture and rosary services also are planned there Monday evening.
Zapata's funeral is Tuesday at Miller Auditorium on Western Michigan University's campus. Kalamazoo officials say city buses will pull over and church bells will ring at 11 a.m. Tuesday in his honor.
A private burial for the 10-year veteran will take place on Wednesday in Lake Odessa.
Zapata was fatally shot on April 18 by a man who later killed himself.
