Secretary Of State Backs New Organ Donor Plate 4-26-2011

Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson has unveiled a proposed license plate design to benefit organ donation efforts.
Johnson went to Hurly Medical Center in Flint on Monday to display the plate, which would require legislative approval.
She says she's encouraged by efforts to increase organ donations in the state, which has 3,000 people on waiting lists.
Johnson was joined by Democratic state Sen. John Gleason of Flushing and Republican state Rep. Kevin Daley of Lum at the event.
They say more people should join the Michigan Organ Donor Registry.
Daley says his family is comforted to know that organs from his son Thomas are helping give life to others. Thomas Daley died in a farming accident.
Johnson also posed with children who received transplants.
