WomanÂ?s Body Found; Suspect In Custody 4-26-2011

Saginaw County Sheriff’s deputies are releasing few details concerning an investigation that brought a Michigan State Police Crime Unit to Saginaw County late Monday night.
However, on Tuesday, Saginaw County Sheriff William L. Federspiel did confirm that a woman's body was found at the scene near the Saginaw Valley Rail Trail.
A family member told TV5 that 49-year-old Francine Conversa was killed following a domestic incident, but officials have not confirmed the victim's identity or cause of death.
Officials said the investigation started when a man claimed he had hurt his girlfriend and then tried to kill himself.
The investigation led deputies to a rural area of Swan Creek Road sometime before 9 p.m. in Swan Creek Township. Several police cruisers and the department’s Mobile Command Center had the area blocked off for several hours.
The suspect, who is in custody, is a male in his mid 20s. He was transported to an area hospital before being jailed.
Federspiel also said the man is a suspect in a recent rash of Chesaning Township break-ins.
Officials are expected to release a cause of death and further details later Tuesday.
