Garrett Gould pitched six innings and was helped by Bryant Hernandez and Blake Dean home runs as the Great Lakes Loons defeated the South Bend Silver Hawks Tuesday night.
The Loons finish their longest road trip of the season with a 6-3 record, heading into the longest homestand of the season beginning on Wednesday.
The Loons flew out to a 7-0 lead through two innings, and those runs were good enough to hold off South Bend.
Gould (4-0) allowed just one run in six innings, he struck out six and walked none and earned his fourth win of the year.
Logan Bawcom pitched the final nine outs and earned his first save of the year.
Great Lakes plays host to the West Michigan Whitecaps in a three-game series starting tonight at Dow Diamond.
