2 Men Arrested In Multi-County Burglary Ring 5-05-2011

Authorities say two Flint men are facing numerous charges linked to a series of burglaries throughout Mid-Michigan.
Saginaw County Sheriff William L. Federspiel said Steven Daniel Volz, 30, and Timothy David Wilson II, 30, are in custody in connection with multiple home invasions involving three counties over the span of several months.
Federspiel said shortly after Volz was paroled for first-degree home invasion in August of 2010, he teamed up with Wilson to commit the burglaries, which occurred mostly in the daytime.
The two suspects would target abandoned homes, but would also steal from occupied dwellings when circumstances were right, according the sheriff.
Federspiel said the suspects would steal guns, appliances, electronics, tools and building materials like copper wiring, piping and bathroom fixtures. The metal would be sold as scrap, while the tools were kept with the plan to eventually start a legitimate business, Federspiel said.
After a lengthy investigation involving the Saginaw County Sheriff's Office and the Michigan State Police Bridgeport Post, the suspects were identified and arrested, Federspiel said.
The target houses were identified and much of the stolen property was recovered.
Both men are facing numerous charges, including first-degree and second-degree home invasion, and felony of firearms.
Federspiel held a news conference Thursday morning to announce the charges.
