Public Safety Shake-Up May Save $618K Yearly 5-10-2011

A local community has found a way to slash costs without cutting public safety.
Saginaw Assistant City Manager for Public Safety Phillip A. Ludos is proposing a reorganization plan that could include $618,383 in annual public safety savings and includes zero layoffs.
Ludos said his plan includes eliminating vacant positions, reassigning fire station personnel and replacing or removing aging equipment.
Ludos is also considering creating new administration positions within the police department.
