Trial Ordered For Drug Prisoner In 2000 Slaying 5-10-2011

A man already serving time in prison on a drug conviction has been ordered to stand trial in the death of a 20-year-old Shiawassee County woman 11 years ago.
A judge in Corunna ruled Tuesday that there's probable cause to try 33-year-old Laurencio Rodriguez on an open count of murder in the 2000 killing of Rachel Scott of Venice Township.
The ruling came after Jeremy Seger testified that Scott was visiting his apartment when Rodriguez came to buy marijuana.
Seger says they got high and he left the room, returning to find Rodriguez on top of the motionless victim.
Seger says he saw Rodriguez wrap Scott's body in a blanket and throw her in his car trunk.
Rodriguez's lawyer says he question's Seger's truthfulness.
