Tiger Pitcher Has Surgery, Screw Replaced In Elbow 5-12-2011

Detroit Tigers right-hander Joel Zumaya had surgery on his pitching elbow on Tuesday and will begin six weeks of rest and rehabilitation before being reevaluated.
The Tigers provided an update on Wednesday before the team's series finale against the Minnesota Twins.
Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery and installed a new screw in his elbow to see whether that was causing the pain that Zumaya experienced.
Zumaya has not pitched since breaking a bone near his elbow last June.
The Tigers say it is unclear whether he will return to the mound this season.
Andrews will check him again in six weeks to see how it is healing.
