Mid-Michigan Girl Dies After Meningitis Diagnosis 5-12-2011

Officials said a high school student from Mid-Michigan has died after being diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.
Fourteen-year-old Shelby Finney of Barryton died Tuesday after being hospitalized in Saginaw.
She was a freshman at Chippewa Hills High School in Mecosta County.
A crisis team was involved to help fellow students and others following her death.
Meningitis is an infection of the fluid that surrounds a person's spinal cord and the brain. It can be caused by a virus or bacteria, but bacterial meningitis is more dangerous.
