The Michigan Manufacturers Association formally recognized Rep. Ken Horn (R-Frankenmuth) as Legislator of the Year for 2010.
The award was presented before an audience of legislators, government officials and manufacturers during the Associations annual Legislative & Executive Reception which was held at the MMA headquarters in Lansing.
We need to re-grow and encourage our big three auto makers, but in my region I like to highlight another big three in advanced manufacturing Hemlock Semiconductor, Dow and Dow Corning, Horn said when accepting the award. We are leading the way in the Great Lakes Bay Region.
Officials said Horn was selected for the honor recognizing his passion for manufacturing, which has been demonstrated by consistently voting in support of MMAs pro-manufacturing agenda and the policy priorities that matter most to industry.
We are proud to honor Representative Ken Horn as our Legislator of the Year because he has earned the respect and gratitude of MMA and the thousands of manufacturers the Association represents, said MMA president and CEO Chuck Hadde. We applaud his support.
The MMA Legislator of the Year award is an annual award given to recognize forward-thinking, action-oriented policy leaders who understand the importance of manufacturing to Michigans past, present and future; a leader that the Association has been able to count on for manufacturing-friendly policy decisions, according to a news release.
