Essexville-Hampton Schools To Cut $1 Million 5-17-2011

Budget talks continue across Mid-Michigan as one local school district makes a tough decision that will affect students.
According to an Essexville-Hampton school official, the district will cut over $1 million from the budget.
Public K-12 schools across the state are facing per-pupil cuts of between $300 and $500.
Students in the district would also have to pay more for lunches.
Officials approving a plan would see kindergartners in school all day when it's necessary.
Essexville-Hampton schools is adopting the program because the district will only get half the state funding if students are in school for half days.
This change should take effect for the 2012-2013 school year.
