Man Steps Up To Help Family Replace $30K Roof 5-17-2011

The bad storms that blew through Mid-Michigan this past weekend left a Fenton family of 12 in the rain. The family told TV5 a local contractor did some shoddy work on their home and then left the job unfinished.
But now a few Good Samaritans are coming to their aid and completing the job for free.
Roofer Cory Snyder lives in Bay City and travelled over an hour to help the family out, along with roofers Mike and Carrie. Snyder’s been roofing for years and said the job pays the bills.
It's a job that would normally pay him thousands of dollars, but this job is far from normal. The Green family adopted ten children from all over the world and they paid a roofer for a new roof, but he never finished the job.
When it rained during this past weekend, water spilled in from every direction. “[We were] laying down tarps to catch the rain,” said homeowner Benjamin Green. “I really don't know what we would have done."
The work the roofers are doing would normally cost $30,000 but they are doing it for free.
They saw TV5's story and said they wanted to help the Green family.
TV5’s Tia Ewing asked Cory: "It's your means of income, but this is a situation where you are doing it for free.” “Yes, but at the same time, there is still food on the table and the kids are taken care of," said Cory.
"What do you think about them doing this for free?” asked Ewing of the Green’s 10-year-old son, Benjamin. “I think it's great, and I think it's a loving thing, they are great, Godly men."
Snyder said he felt inspired after seeing the Green's love for children.
"They are really nice homeowners and I couldn't be doing it for better people," said Snyder.
The Green family said they are thankful, and now when it rains they won't have to worry. Snyder said he plans to have the roof completed by the weekend.
