Neighbors Say Stray Cats Being Poisoned 5-18-2011

Residents in an east side Saginaw neighborhood say 12 stray cats have died of suspected poisoning since last summer.
Neighbors Kevin L. Bentley and Nancy L. Woods, who live on North 13 Street near Fitzhugh Street told TV5 that someone in the community is poisoning the stray cats.
Eight cats suddenly died last year and four have already died this spring, according to Bentley.
“I hate to see them suffer,” Woods said about the cats.
Bentley said they have contacted Saginaw police about the dying cats but have been told nothing can be done unless someone physically catches someone in the act.
The two neighbors said they don’t necessarily want to see someone prosecuted; they just want the killings to stop.
Neighbors have checked into having autopsies performed on the cats that have died, but discovered that it could cost as much as $175 per cat.
