The Detroit Tigers began interleague play in Pittsburgh Friday and were thoroughly smashed by the Pirates 10-1.
Tigers starter Brad Penny (4-4, 4.45 ERA) gave up five runs on six hits and five walks over 5 2/3 innings.
It was a 1-1 game going into the bottom of the sixth inning, when Pittsburgh scored six runs to break the game open.
The teams will play Saturday in Pittsburgh with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Max Scherzer (6-0, 2.81 ERA) takes the hill for the Tigers.
Kevin Correia (5-4, 3.97 ERA) gets the nod for the Pirates.
