Vandals Hit Ball Field For Kids With Disabilities 5-23-2011

Authorities say vandals spray-painted graffiti at a $500,000 Southfield baseball field built for children with disabilities.
The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News report Monday that vandals recently spray-painted the announcer's booth, the concession stand and a section of the infield. Officials with the Miracle League of Michigan were informed of the damage over the weekend.
The field was built in 2004. It's difficult to remove the graffiti on the field because it's made of rubber designed to create traction for wheelchairs, walkers and crutches.
Officials are working to remove or cover the graffiti by opening day for the season in about two weeks. They're seeking donations to help cover the costs.
