7 Flint Mayoral Candidates Meet For First Forum 5-25-2011

The first Flint mayoral candidate forum was held Wednesday morning at the White Horse Tavern in downtown Flint.
It was the first time all seven candidates appeared together publicly.
The candidates are Darryl Buchanan, David Davenport, Don Pfeiffer, Eric Mays, Jung Ho Kim, Scott Smith and Mayor Dayne Walling.
They squared off for the first time during four rounds of questions, which ranged from the ailing budget to the buzz topic -- how to restore the city and reverse the "Murder Capitol, USA" title recently handed down from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Flint resident Daniel Kurin echoed what many locals feel. They're mostly concerned about their safety and getting more police back on the streets. "How safe is it being in Flint? Because we wanna invest in the city and make it better, but if we're gonna die here, there's not a whole lot of point to be here," said Kurin.
The event was aired on Kettering University's WKUF 94.3 FM and was hosted by radio personality Tom Sumner.
Voters will decide the top two candidates in the Aug. 2 primary election.
