Man hit with full beer can while riding bike

Posted: Updated:

Authorities are investigating after a 50-year-old Laingsburg man said he was riding his bike when he was struck with a full beer can thrown from a passing car.

Saginaw County sheriff's Sgt. Randy Pfau said the incident happened to the Shiawassee County man when he was riding northbound in the 13300 block of S. Merrill Road, near Burt Road in Marion Township.

The cyclist told police he was hit in the back of the head by a full, 12-ounce can of Budweiser beer. The can exploded when it struck the man and deputies said he had bruises to his head. Police said the man's helmet may have helped save him from the brunt of the can's force.

The biker relayed to police that the beer was thrown from a dark colored, late 80s hatchback car with a large Monster Energy drink logo decal in the rear window.

The man told police he'd been pelted with objects while biking in that area before.

Anyone with information on the investigation is urged to call the Sheriff's Department at 989-790-5450.
