Crews label overnight fire in Flint 'suspicious'

Posted: Updated:

A fire at an abandoned house forced people living nearby to evacuate their homes in the middle of the night.

It happened just after 12 a.m. Tuesday morning as firefighters in Flint battled the blaze at a two-story house in the 1000 block of Stockton.

People living in a home and an apartment building nearby were ordered to leave. About a half-dozen residents were affected.

Utility lines collapsed and also knocked out power to those homes.

Volunteers with the American Red Cross are helping those people who were forced to evacuate.

Fire officials said the abandoned home was set for demolition.

The cause of the fire is being ruled as suspicious at this hour.
