Back To The Bricks: Michigan Mitten Tour

Posted: Updated:

More than 150 fans of the annual Back to the Bricks Car Show and Cruise left downtown Flint today, headed for the first stop of an 8-day tour of the perimeter of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, Port Huron. Spending by participants is expected to generate more than $1 Million economic impact in the communities visited and that number is projected to double with local participant spending.

This is the second year that a contingent of car enthusiasts traveled to promote Flint's largest car show and one of the top 20 car shows in the nation.

Nearly 100 cars ranging from a street legal Indy racecar to restored antiques to modified streetrods are making the tour stopping at some 100 locations to talk with other fans of the hobby and inviting them to join with them for this year's 7th Back to the Bricks Cruise and Car Show scheduled for August 16th through the 20th.

Major stops, in addition to Port Huron are Bay City (Saturday), Alpena (Sunday), Mackinaw City (Monday), Traverse City (Tuesday), Ludington (Wednesday), Holland (Thursday) and Brooklyn, home of the Michigan International Speedway (Friday).  The tour ends with the group arriving at the Sloan Museum's Auto Fest Saturday.

All total, some 38 stops are planned, and because the tour is an "at will cruise/tour" many more extemporaneous stops will be made by individual participants and points of interest.
