Squirrel causes power outage in Saginaw Township

Posted: Updated:

Consumers Energy says at around 10:30 a.m., 2 circuits became locked out in Saginaw County -- all due to a squirrel.

That knocked out power to 1, 340 customers, mostly in the area of Bay and Shattuck roads in Saginaw Township.

Consumers Energy representative Mary Gust says crews restored power to customers by early afternoon.

Some traffic lights were out in the area. Drivers are reminded to treat those intersections as 4-way stops when the lights are out.
