Flint Township police say a 2-year-old girl is dead and her father is being questioned.
The incident happened Sunday just after 9 a.m. on Donal Drive in Flint Township. Police said when officers arrived they found the child not breathing.
According to a news release, efforts to resuscitate the girl were unsuccessfully and she was transported to Hurley Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
The release said officers immediately observed signs of child abuse -- including five human bite marks -- and the Flint Township Police Investigation Bureau was called in to investigate.
Flint Township police Chief George Sippert said some of the bite marks were fresh while others appeared to be a few days old. He says they appeared to be from an adult.
Police said numerous family members were present in the home - which belongs to the child's grandmother.
Police said the girl's father, a 20-year-old Flint resident, is being held at the Genesee County Jail pending charges.
Sippert said blunt force trauma to girl's abdomen may have caused her death
