GRATIOT COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Michigan State police say a 51-year-old man who abused a girl at a public park in Gratiot County was telling children he was part of a reality television show.

Police said they were called to investigate a criminal complaint at Reed Park in North Star Township just before 4 p.m. Thursday.

Witnesses told police the man was making sexual advances toward children and that he was claiming to be part of a reality television show with a working TV crew with him.

During the investigation, troopers also learned the man had physically assaulted a female child while in the pond at Reed Park, according to a news release.

Michael Patrick King, of Pompeii, was lodged in Gratiot County Jail on charges of accosting a male child for immoral purposes, and assault and battery against a female child.

He was arraigned in court on the criminal charges Friday afternoon.
