Police department steps up security

Posted: Updated:
FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

The Flint police department is stepping up security.

The lobby will be fitted with bulletproof glass, electronic locks and more surveillance cameras.

The project is funded by federal money and expected to cost up to $60,000.

The work comes six months after a shooting at a Detroit police station where four officers were shot and wounded.

Surveillance video played a big part in that incident.

It showed the suspect walking into the precinct and opening fire.
