GENESEE TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

The Genesee Township Police Department continues to investigate two separate hit-and-run crashes that have occurred about a week apart.

On Sunday July 17, 17-year-old Kadijah Powell was struck on North Dort Highway near Coldwater Road while walking on the side of the road with a group of friends from Skateland Arena in Mount Morris Township.

Police are searching for the driver of a mid-1990s gold/pewter colored Jeep Grand Cherokee. Police said the vehicle will have front passenger-side damage.

Powell attended adult high school completion classes and was the mother of a 5-month-old girl.

Another hit-and-run crash occurred in the 3000 block of North Center Road early Saturday morning.

Police said it happened at about 1 a.m. Police said a woman in her 20s was killed in the crash. Her name has not been released.

Anyone with any information on either incident is asked to call police 810-640-2000.
