Saginaw's downtown hotel locked, appears to be shut down

SAGINAW, MI (AP) -

A 177-room hotel in downtown Saginaw across the The Dow Event Center appears to have shut down.

The Saginaw Plaza Hotel & Convention Center at 400 Johnson sat empty Wednesday night as the building's front doors were locked, no vehicles in the parking lot and no one inside.

No "Closed" sings were visible, but the hotel has had several owners over the years.

The hotel closed in September 2006 and underwent a $500,000 makeover before it reopened in May 2009.
